Spring Casual: The Go-To Chambray Shirt
from He Spoke Style - Men's Style, Fashion, Grooming, Tips and Advice How to wear a chambray shirt casuallyDressing up five days a week can be exhausting. When the weekend comes, we’re looking to unwind and take a break from the constant task of being kempt. All too often we default to throwing on a pair of worn jeans and faded t-shirt because “it’s easy”. Unless you’re doing yard work all day, this can seem lazy and uninspired in other situations. You’re the type of guy who spends the time and effort when it come to dressing up, shouldn’t your off-duty style reflect that as well? When it comes to dressing casually, I often reach for something that’s equally sophisticated, yet comfortable. To me, nothing compares to the trusty chambray shirt. My personal style code is pretty simple: wear the things you like. A LOT. This shirt doesn’t often leave the rotation during the week and the same is true during the weekend. What I try to explain time and time again to men is that you should invest in well-made products because you’ll end up much happier in the long run. I’m not a fan of fast fashion. I would much rather look at my wardrobe and see things that I once saw in my father’s or grandfather’s closet. There is a reason they’ve never gone out of style. One of the best investments I made this past year was a suede jacket. This goat suede bomber in caramel doesn’t just look cool; it’s the perfect balance of both new and old. A more modern take on the jacket your dad once wore, this coat is the perfect transitional garment to wear in the early days of spring. When properly taken care of, it will only get better with age and hopefully you’ll be the cool-looking dad when that happens. | WEARING | Marloes Cognac Suede Jacket, Chambray Shirt, White Chino Pant, Seiko SSC017 Solar Dive Watch, Ray Bans “Clubmasters”, Swims Tennis Knit Sneaker | PHOTOGRAPHY | by Victoria Saperstein Since I’ve never been one to habitually stick to strict guidelines of style, I skew towards wearing whatever the weather dictates. At the slightest hint of sunshine and warmer weather, whether it’s before Memorial Day or not, I’m reaching for a white pair of chinos. Having an off-white or light khaki pair of chinos as a part of my wardrobe in spring is essential. They’re comfortable, easy and relatively inexpensive to replace if they get dirty. Nothing quite evokes the changing of seasons than a new pair of white sneakers. Brian has had plenty of praise for a pair white sneakers in the past and for good reason. They’re as essential to a man’s wardrobe as any suit or tie. Loafers are versatile and sophisticated, but when you’re off duty, a white low top sneaker can work casually–even with the right suit. Simple tip when wearing something casual: make sure to choose a version that matches your look. Canvas or knit variations (like this) are perfectly acceptable in this case. If you’re wearing a suit, opt for the leather version. Final decision: socks or no socks? I’ll sit this one out and let you decide. As always, thanks for reading. Stylishly Yours, Steven D.
